The restaurant has 3 sections, once you enter there is a beautiful curved bar and seating area, classy tables with some dark green bench seats. To the left a large open seating area. We were seated upstairs, a huge vast space with a spot for the band, which start their set around 7PM. My favorite dish was the steak with fries, its so smoky and deliciously tender, and the sauce was perfection. The cod was okay, a bit salty, but tuna tartar was perfect, not too salty just creamy and delicious with a side of crispy baguette style croutons. The place became alive when the jazz band started to sing and play a lovely tune, the place was packed with a great atmosphere. The staff were professional and courteous. The apple "pie" was a puck sized medallion, warm with ice-cream on top, don't expect a pie sized piece! It was delicious, just the right size for me. Great resto, will definitely be back.

We went as a party of 4 for new years eve. The location is great and the atmosphere upstairs was very well done with the live jazz singer and the double bass player. The music was not overwhelmingly loud and complemented the experience in an elegant way. We found the service to be excellent. So kudos to the waiter that served us. We had a 5 course dinner with the wine pairing. I didn't find the wine really complemented the flavors of each dish so can't say whether or not a sommelier was involved in the selections. The dishes were good but not outstanding. I could not say that I found myself weak in the knees on first bite of each dish as I had hoped. The food was ok, I still finished everything on my plate. Overall I found the prices was fairly for the quality but nothing outstanding that would entice me to return.

Very unique brunch experience. The duck waffle was something special, and the croque madame with lamb was insanely tasty - I honestly can’t even decide which one I liked more. Beautiful atmosphere, live music, and such a nice attentive staff. Definitely a place worth coming back to!!

Wonderful restaurant with live music and serving classic French cuisine. Great atmosphere on second floor. Was given a fantastic table close to live music performance. Attendant was ok, nothing extraordinary but provided decent polite service. Food was quite good, especially the onion soup which was not salty and seasoned perfectly with savory and sweetness balanced nicely with hint of wine flavourful in the broth. Rack of lamb was cooked to perfection however the rack portion could have been better cut up and presented though, it was a tad lazy to serve up two giant racks with other rack bones partial in together, when compare to others having same dish at other tables. Scallops were cooked right but sauce was too salty for my preference. Salad was amazingly fresh and crisp. Overall good food good vibe good value.

We’ve been going to modavie over 10years whenever we visit Montreal, our go to for classic French food! It never fails even up to the past 2 days we went back to back for lunch. The fixe price menu is fantastic. Lentil soup, salad with simple n tasty dressing, the cod, duck confit is well cooked and handsomely presented. We wanted the lamb chops the next day and that was so good too! We had those food many times before but always tasted like the first time! Lorenzo always greets us with his warm friendly n witty charm. He remembers us as regular guests and never took us for granted. William is attentive, cheerful and remember what we ordered before! See you soon! Make sure you have the window table for 2 again for us!
